Hammer assault in Salisbury lands one behind bars

A Salisbury man is facing charges after investigators say he assaulted a woman with a hammer.
On July 5 at 2 AM, a deputy with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an assault on Hearn Lane in Salisbury. According to the report the deputy met a woman who claimed that she had an argument with 20-year-old Rashad Tilghman that turned physical.
Tilghman is accused of striking the woman with a hammer on her shoulder, causing an injury. The report also stated that Tilghman bit the woman repeatedly on her forearm and bicep. While investigating, the deputy reported that they noticed signs of injury on the woman that matched with her account of events.
The Wicomico County deputy placed Tilghman under arrest, and was then charged with first and second degree assault. He was then transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Tilghman was then turned over to the custody of the Wicomico County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
