Former Salisbury area high school football standout Dalonte Waters was charged with burglary in the 3rd degree and assault in the 2nd degree on Thursday, June 30. Waters faces a possible 10 year sentence for the burglary charge, and another 10 year sentence &/or $2,500.00 fine for the assault. According to court documents acquired by 47 ABC, Waters was in an argument over the phone with Sweyah Phillips, the mother of his child. Following the conversation, Waters went to Phillips residence, where the physical altercation occurred. Waters posted and was release on $20,000 bond.

In a court statement, Waters claims that Phillips hung up the phone during their argument, so he went to her house to continue the conversation. After knocking and not hearing a response, he reportedly entered the house. Waters stated another argument then occurred, and Phillips threw a lamp that hit him. After that he allegedly “grabbed Phillips, shook her and then left”.

According to Phillips, Waters showed up unexpectedly at the house, where he then assaulted her. Court documents detail visible injuries to Phillips mouth.
