DSU searching for new provost after one withdraws before starting

A Florida A&M professor who was slated to be DSU’s next provost, has now backed out of the position.
According to a DSU spokesperson, James Ammons was supposed to begin his new post at Delaware State University later this month. However, over the weekend, Ammons apparently informed administration officials at DSU that he will instead remain in Tallahassee.
School officials say they have started a nationwide search to replace Ammons and two associate provosts are currently filling in until a new one is found.
According to a the Florida based news organization, the Tallahassee Democrat, Ammons said that he and his wife decided to remain in Florida where he is a political science professor.
