Deputy reportedly hit with trooper car during the arrest of armed robbery suspects

The Office of the Sheriff of Queen Anne’s County says they got a call early Tuesday morning regarding an armed robbery, which also resulted in a deputy getting hit with a car during a traffic stop.
Around 12:50 AM, victims near the Courtyard Inn on Route 213, near Chestertown, called to report an armed robbery by three men. Officials say these men are thought to have taken prescription pain medications and a cell phone from the victims before they drove off in a white Volkswagen.
According to the report, an attempt to locate broadcast was issued, and a Queen Anne’s Deputy saw a white Volkswagen going south on Route 301. Backup units were apparently requested, including Maryland State Troopers that assisted in the search, and they were able to make a felony style stop.
Officials say with the possibility of a firearm in the suspect vehicle, additional responding units stopped traffic in the opposite lane for citizen safety.
Officials say that three men and a woman were found in the car, and taken into custody. According to the report, while the car was being impounded, detectives began to interview the suspects and victims in the case.
The charges reported on the suspects are as follows:
- Jalen Lynell Whyte, 20, of Grasonville, has been charged with armed robbery, theft under $100, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy of possession with intent to distribute CDS.
- Devanon Arnet Wilson Jr., 21, of Chester, has been charged with armed robbery, theft under $100, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy of possession with intent to distribute CDS.
- Ty Lamar Blackwell, 22, of Easton, has been charged with armed robbery, theft under $100, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy of possession with intent to distribute CDS.
- Sabrina Lynn Pulanco, 20, of Grasonville has been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, theft under $100, assault and conspiracy of possession with intent to distribute CDS.
Officials say that all four suspects are currently being processed and awaiting an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner, while search warrants have also been issued for the suspect vehicle and the victim’s residence. Several knives were reportedly recovered from the Volkswagen, but no firearm has been found.
While this stop and search was happening, as deputies were in the process of closing the highway, TFC Morrison was driving to the scene coming from the north, while another trooper was traveling from the south.
Officials say Morrison and the other trooper driving were forced to brake suddenly as they approached, causing TFC Morrison to swerve into the median, because of the wet road conditions, in order to avoid hitting the patrol car in front of him.
TFC Morrison then reportedly ran into Deputy Creason, a Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office deputy on foot at the scene, with the right front corner bumper and fender of his patrol vehicle.
Deputy Creason was apparently flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he is undergoing treatment.
Troopers from the Centreville Barrack and the State Police Crash Team say they investigated the crash, and were assisted by deputies from the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office.
