Delmar man charged with strangulation in Rehoboth Beach

37-year-old Jeremy Lake, of Delmar, Del.

A Delmar man is facing charges, after Police say he strangled a woman on Sunday morning.

Rehoboth Beach Police say just before 2:50 AM, Officers responded to the Royal Farms on Columbia Avenue, for reports of a man assaulting a woman. Once on scene, Police say they found a woman, which led to an investigation into an assault that happened the evening before.

On Friday, just before midnight, Police say 37-year-old Jeremy Lake, had been drinking, and grabbed the victim by the arms, and threw her down multiple times, and choked her. The next evening, after drinking at a local bar, Lake and the victim were on their way home when they started to argue, during which, Lake once again choked the victim and hit her in the head with his elbow.

As a result of the assaults, Police say the victim suffered multiple non-life threatening injuries including bruising, swelling, and lacerations.
Lake had already left the scene when Police arrived on Sunday morning, but Officers apparently caught up with him in Grove Park, near the scene of the incident around 10:00 AM.

After his arrest, Lake was charged with two felony counts of strangulation, two counts of misdemeanor third degree assault, and one count of disorderly conduct. He was then turned over to the custody of the Sussex Correctional Institution on $14,100 secured bail.
