DE releases latest cancer report

On Tuesday, the Delaware Division of Public Health released a report on the state’s progress in reducing cancer rates and cancer-related deaths.The report looked at mortality and  incidence rates from 1998 to 2002 and from 2008 and 2012. Some of the findings included a 17% decrease in cancer mortality rates among men and 13% decrease among women. In regards to the  incidence rates,  Delaware saw a 4% percent decrease among men and women. One of the groups that also a significant drop in incidence rates were African American and Hispanics. Public Heath officials believe all these decline in rates are attributed to cancer screening and early detection.
