Community rallies to support local foundation

Children and their parents flocked to Coco’s Funhouse on Thursday to help support Wyatt’s Warriors foundation started by Jen Shipe.

This foundation started about 6 months ago. Shipe’s son was born last July who had to undergo heart surgery and only lived 44 days.

Shipe says being a new mother and staying in the hospital longer than expected due to your child being ill, can catch one offguard. During her time in the hospital, Shipe received a care package, which was extremely helpful.

Shipe decided to start this foundation to help other families by providing Warrior Care Packages. These bags are given to any family that must leave their local hospital for infant care at larger specialized hospitals. The packages include laundry detergent, socks, extra baby clothes, and even Visa cards.

All the money raised at Coco’s will go to make more care packages and help other families in similar situations.
