Coast Guard recruit who died after training run identified

(AP) – A Coast Guard recruit from Virginia who died Wednesday after collapsing last week after a physical fitness run at a training center in New Jersey has been identified.
The Coast Guard said Thursday that 21-year-old Aaron Redd, from Stafford, Virginia, collapsed after completing a 1.5-mile run at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May.
The Coast Guard said in a statement that Redd had received medical evaluations before his enlistment on June 28 and again after arriving in Cape May.
The cause of death has not yet been determined.
The Coast Guard says it will conduct a full investigation into the recruit’s death, which is standard policy in such cases.
