Beau Biden foundation provides sex abuse prevention training

(AP) – Administrators and teachers in the Indian River School District have received child sexual abuse prevention training through a special program sponsored by the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children.

Media outlets report that as part of the Stewards of Children program, school district personnel on Thursday were shown how to notice and intervene when they suspect a child is being victimized.

Most of the training features testimonials from adults who were abused as children and strategies from experts on protecting children in adult care.

In 2010, then-Attorney General Beau Biden made a commitment to training 35,000 Delaware adults in child abuse prevention. Beau Biden Foundation spokeswoman Patricia Dailey Lewis says the 35,000 figure is meant to create a societal “tipping point” that discourages abuse and encourages reporting.
