2 dead in fatal car wreck in Chesapeake

Police say two people were killed in a fatal car wreck in Chesapeake.
 
The crash occurred at about 3:20 p.m. Sunday on Route 58 east of Snowden Road.
 
Virginia State Police say the driver of a 1999 Ford Contour was traveling westbound on Route 58 when he veered off the roadway and struck a tree.
 
The driver has been identified as 21-year-old Brandon O’Neil Riddick. His passenger has been identified as 18-year-old Kendra Shalante Sonae.
 
Both were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
