Virginia man charged with concealed weapon during Berlin traffic stop

A wanted man was arrested during a traffic stop in Berlin, on weapons charges.

Berlin Police say on Sunday, an Officer stopped a white 2002 Nissan Maxima for speeding on Route 113 at Burley Street, in Berlin. During the stop, Police say they smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.

One of the vehicle’s passengers, 20-year-old Devon Lockley, of New Church, Virginia, was taken out of the car, when he reportedly told Officers that he had a small amount of marijuana on him. Police say this prompted a search of the Nissan, where they found a butane lighter in the door armrest of the vehicle next to where Lockley had been sitting.

The lighter reportedly had two inch double edged, spring-loaded switch blade within the casing. Lockley, who was wanted on a District Court of Maryland bench warrant for a failure to appear on theft charges, was then charged with dangerous weapon – concealed.

He was then was taken before the District Court Commissioner in Ocean City, where he was ordered held on $5,000 bond on the bench warrant, and released without bond on the possession of the switchblade.
