UPDATE: Victim identified in Worcester Co. fatal crash

Troopers with the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack say, they are investigating a fatal single car crash off of Route 12 that claimed the life of one.

Officials say, the crash happened around 3 AM Thursday on Snow Hill Road in the area of Pike Lane. Reports indicate 26-year-old Justin Lewis, of Snow Hill was driving northbound on Route 12 when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road hitting a tree causing the vehicle to overturn.

Troopers say Lewis, the only occupant, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has reportedly been sent to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

MSP say, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland Office of Chief Medical Examiner, and the Girdletree Fire Department assisted with this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

North bound lanes of Snow Hill Road/ Route 12 was reportedly closed for about 3 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
