UPDATE: Fatal crash in Dover under investigation

After a Saturday night crash north of Dover, Delaware State Police say one man is dead.

We’re told just before 6:30 p.m., 20-year-old Rod Zarafshar of McLean, Virginia, was heading north on Lewis Drive, approaching an intersection. Police say Zarafshar failed to stop at a stop sign.

As Zarafshar’s Jeep was driving through the intersection, it was reportedly struck on the passenger’s side by a pick-up truck, driven by 37-year-old Robert Falcone of Dover.

Delaware State Police say Zarafshar’s front seat passenger, 20-year-old Hunter Watson, also of McLean Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zarafshar was apparently airlifted to Christiana Medical Center for undetermined injuries.

Police say Falcone was transported to Bayhealth Kent General via EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.

Delaware State Police say the crash is still under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
