UPDATE: EEOC finds “probable cause” in firing for retaliation

The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) says it has found “reasonable cause” that former Pocomoke City police chief Kelvin Sewell was discharged in retaliation for protected activity.
Sewell was fired from the Pocomoke City Police Department in June 2015. He claims his dismissal was racially charged and retaliation for not firing two of his officers after they filed complaints with the EEOC.
47ABC spoke with Pocomoke City manager Ernie Crofoot on Wednesday about the EEOC’s report. Crofoot says this is just one more step taken toward a longer process and also stresses this is not an adjudication to guilt on the city’s behalf.
