UPDATE: Driver arrested in death of Verizon worker in Little Heaven

Zachary M. Krytzer, 27 of Milton, Del.

Police say the driver of a car that hit and killed a utility worker, has been arrested.

Delaware State Police say Detectives with the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit arrested 27-year-old Zachary Krytzer, of Milton, after he was released from the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Krytzer was apparently then transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with vehicular homicide first degree, and driving under the influence of drugs.

The charges stem from an incident that happened on Tuesday, where Police say Krytzer was driving on Bay Road – Route 1, when he drifted into the shoulder, where he hit a mailbox, a road reflector, and then pinned 41-year-old Heath Janssen, to the back of his Verizon work truck. The truck was apparently pushed 36 feet on the shoulder, while Krytzer’s SUV continued driving for another 23 feet. Janssen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say after his arrest, Krytzer was arraigned, and released by posting $20,500 secured bond. The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is reportedly continuing their investigation into this incident.
