Strutters Stay Perfect Behind Richardson’s Strong Night

It wasn’t pretty, but Wyatt Richardson got the job done. The big right hander battled through a night where his command was off, coming up with the big pitches when he needed them to help keep the Strutters perfect, topping Tri-County 4-1.

The Strutters would have a chance to score first after Mike Turner would have a single to open the game, followed by a sac bunt from Jordan Gowe. That’s as far as the runner would get though as we would head to the bottom of the frame. There, Tri-County tried to get their offense going. They would work the base loaded with 1 out, before Wyatt Richardson would get back to back strike outs to get out of the inning. Jack Cheney then settled in for Tri-County, having a quick inning of his own. In the bottom of the 2nd, Tri-County would get a runner to 2nd with no outs, but against Richardson would work around the jam. Finally in the top of the 3rd, the Strutters would break through. With the bases loaded, a pass ball would allow Turner to score the first run of the game. That was followed by a shot sent to short by Collier Donald. Zach Hawke would turn two on the play, but another run would score. Tri-County would have their opportunities, working the bases loaded with no out in the 5th, but as he did all night, Richardson would come up big with his back against the wall. He would get a strike out, then force at at the plate, before another strike out to end the inning.
