SHA: Rt. 13 construction to finish in early 2017

The Maryland Dept. of Transportation’s State Highway Administration says a project re-configuring and extending turn lanes on Route 13 has begun.
We’re told the project aims to help ease congestion to Salisbury University’s new Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons building.
In a release, the SHA says the road work includes:
- Extending the current left turn lane from northbound US 13 Business to West College Avenue.
- Extending the current left turn lane from southbound US 13 Business to Bateman Street.
- Relocating the Salisbury University “Lot-A” entrance to accommodate the new GAC.
- Resurfacing US 13 Business from West College Avenue to Dogwood Drive.
- Restriping to include bicycle lanes.
- Median improvements/landscaping.
The project will by completed by early 2017, according to the SHA. We’re told it will cost a total of $2.2-million. An average of 22,500 cars apparently travel through the stretch of Rt. 13 under construction, each day.
