Salisbury garage fire reportedly caused by mulch

A garage fire in Salisbury has been ruled as accidental.

The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal says a passerby discovered the fire around 2:50 PM on Monday, at a garage on Ocean Isle Circle, in Salisbury. According to the report, 18 firefighters from the Salisbury Fire Department responded to the scene, and had the flames under control in about 20 minutes.

Investigators say the fire started in the exterior flower bed of the structure, and has been ruled accidental, after they found that it was a mulch fire. The building, which is apparently owned by Salisbury Apartments, was a 22′ by 80′ wood framed storage garage.

Damages are reportedly estimated tot total $30,500. No injuries were reported.
