PRMC dedicates new breast center

The most comprehensive breast health services on Delmarva will now be provided through Peninsula Regional Medical Center, according to hospital officials.

The Breast Center off of Snow Hill Road. It was officially dedicated on Wednesday.

It will offer 3-D mammography, biopsies, surgical services and physician consultations all in one place. We’re told there’s no other facility on Delmarva that provides all of these resources at a single location.

Dr. Nicholas Dudas says, “The first question most patients ask after they’re given a horrible diagnosis is ‘Now what?’ In the past, the person giving the news didn’t always have the answer to that question, whereas now they’re immediate post op visits or post op biopsy visits, we’ll be able to tell them okay here’s the plan.”

Joan Mischtschuk, the Executive Director of PRMC’s Cancer Services says, “I think very big of both of our surgical groups to bring together to see these patients. I’m just very proud of that being able to happen.”

According to the Peninsula Regional Health System, on average one out of every eight women will face a breast cancer diagnosis.
