Ocean City opts in on HEAL

Healthier options are coming to Ocean City. Monday night the city council voted unanimously to join a new campaign called the healthy eating active living also known as heal.

As part of the campaign the beach town will work to implement a workplace wellness policy that will offer employee nutrition and physical activity programs to all town employees.

It will also aim to offer healthy food choices through city run concession stands and vending machines.

Also included in the campaign promotion of farmers markets county wide.

“We’re getting rid a lot of the sugary sodas and moving to water and juices and whatever else that is healthier for you as well,” said council president Lloyd Martin.

The changes to the town’s concession stands and vending machines are forthcoming.
