New Castle County police revive man who apparently overdosed

(AP) – Police in New Castle County say they were able to use a special nasal spray officers began carrying about a year ago to revive a man who had apparently overdosed.

Police said in a statement that officers were called to the 100 block of Brennen Drive early Wednesday and found a man who was unconscious and had breathing that was shallow and labored. Police say officers recognized the possibility the 50-year-old man was experiencing a drug overdose.

Police say officers administered department-issued Naloxone nasal spray. Police say that within five minutes the man was breathing normally and talking.

Police say it’s the 27th time they have used the nasal spray to revive someone since the force began carrying Naloxone 14 months ago.
