Milford man charged in alleged rape and assault lasting two days

Police in Milford say, they have arrested and charged a 46-year-old Milford man after he allegedly attacked and raped a woman in a two day span, at a home on SE 2nd Street.

According to reports, on the morning of June 10th Jorge De La Cruz attempted to hit the 34-year-old woman with an iron during an argument. Later that night the two were apparently involved in another argument at which time Cruz reportedly pushed the victim out of her chair, then grabbed a knife and pulled her into a bathroom, and held her at knife point not allowing her to leave. Cruz then reportedly threatened to kill her and her family.

One of the two children, that were in the home during the incident, apparently tried to make contact with the female victim through the bathroom door. Cruz then reportedly left the bathroom and took the child to bed. He later returned and reportedly grabbed the victim around her neck and began to strangle her. Police say, Cruz stopped when the second child came near the bathroom door.

Hours later, on the morning of June 11th, Cruz reportedly forced the victim to perform sex acts and then sexually assaulted her.

Reports say, the victim suffered minor injuries during the incidents and was treated at a local hospital and later released.

Cruz was arrested June 12th and charged with a long list of offenses including; first degree rape, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, first degree unlawful imprisonment, strangulation, third degree assault, terroristic threatening, offensive touching, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held in default of $29,400 secured bond.
