Long Ball Powers Sussex Tech To State Semifinals

The Sussex Tech softball team advance to the state semifinals on Wednesday afternoon after they gutted out a come from behind win over Appoquinimink 4-1. The Ravens got home runs from Madison Watson and Morgan Petty late to take the lead, and would close it out from there for the win.
The Jaguars would strike first after they got a RBI single to left from Mallory Weir that would score Karina Atanacio. The lead would hold for only so long though, as eventually the bats got going for the home team. Madison Watson would tie the game up in the 4th after she turned on one and sent it over the fence in left for a home run. The teams would stay tied going into the bottom of the 5th, but that’s when the Ravens would blow the game open. They would get another solo home run from Petty to get it started. Then shortly after that in the 6th, they added 2 more runs including one off a RBI single from Watson. Then Taylor Collins would have a RBI single to left to score Nicole Hovatter to put the game on ice.
The Ravens advance to the state semifinals where they will face Lake Forest on Thursday.
