The Delaware State Police say, they are investigating a crash involving a dump truck carrying a load of dirt Monday.

According to reports, the crash happened just before 4:30 PM on Roxana Road near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue. Investigators say, 28-year-old Adam Prettyman, of Georgetown was traveling north on Roxana Road approaching the traffic light. In an attempt to quickly make a right turn as the light was turning red, the dump truck reportedly sped into the intersection, causing the truck to overturn onto its side. As the dump truck was overturning, the truck’s bed reportedly landed on the van of 60-year-old Dennis Marvel, of Selbyville, who was stopped in the west bound lane at the traffic light. After impact, the dirt was reportedly thrown from the bed hitting the driver’s side door of 40-year-old Ryan Morgan, of Dagsboro, who was also stopped at the same traffic light but in the east bound lane.

Troopers say no injuries were reported in this collision.

Prettyman was reportedly cited with careless driving as a result of the collision.

DELDOT reportedly responded to the scene to remove the dirt from the roadway. Atlantic Avenue was reportedly closed in both directions for about two hours while the collision was investigated. Reports say, traffic was re-routed through the Hocker’s parking lot.
