Camden community garden hosts free lunch and more for kids

The Camden community garden in Salisbury has partnered up with the Wicomico County Board of Education to bring free lunches to children 18 and younger.

The free lunches are offered from noon to 12:30 Monday through Friday, but on top of that a group called ‘Summer Lunch at the Garden” is offering free activities and games for the children prior to lunch starting at 11:15.

The Wicomico County Robotics Club will stop by this summer, Salisbury Police officers will stop by to have lunch with the kids and the PRMC wellness van will make an appearance as well.

Tuesday was the second day of the program and despite the rain there was still a good turnout.

“We got underneath some tents and played some board games until the lunches arrived, so the kids had a great time, they were meeting each other and meeting the neighbors and it was just a good time and I can’t wait for a sunny day when everybody comes out,” said Suzie Peterson, the program’s director.

On Wednesday and Thursday free art lessons will be offered to children prior to lunch.
