Bridgeville man charged for hitting child when fleeing authorities at Walmart

A Bridgeville man is facing charges, after Police say he hit a a child, as he was running from a local superstore.

Milford Police say on May 1, Officers responded to Walmart, in response to a man taking merchandise off the shelf, and attempting to return it, using an old receipt. According to the report, once on scene, Police learned that 27-year-old Cameron Calvert, was confronted by employees about the incident, and then tried to run from the store.

Police say as Calvert was running, he hit a 6-year-old child to the ground, and then just continued out of the store. Calvert apparently got into a vehicle along with another unknown suspect, and fled the area before police arrived. Police say the child wasn’t injured in the incident.

On June 7, Dover Police apparently apprehended Calvert, and turned him over to the Milford Police Department. After his arrest, he was charged with reckless endangering second degree, two counts of use of a illegitimate retail sales receipt, conspiracy third degree, offensive touching, and disorderly conduct. He was later arraigned, and released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.
