13 citations issued during heroin interdiction patrol in Worcester County

Local law enforcement says they made 27 stops during a patrol that focused on pulling people over, with the intentions of crossing into Delaware for drugs.
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office says on Friday between 5:00 and 9:00 AM, members of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack worked together on a “a saturation patrol focusing on heroin interdiction” in and around the Bishopville area.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, Worcester County CET, Troopers at the Berlin Barrack, and CBI, all say they learned that the Bishopville area, just south of the Delaware line, is frequented by people who have purchased, and who are on their way to purchase heroin from the Polly Branch Road area of Selbyville, Delaware.
During Friday’s four hour initiative four members of the Sheriff’s Office, and four MSP investigators, there were a total of 27 stops, with 13 citations given, and 26 warnings. Police say they searched four vehicles, and used K-9s on two. They apparently made one controlled dangerous substance arrest, for suboxon, and gave two citations for marijuana less than ten grams.
