York stuns Salisbury in CAC Championship

The number one nationally ranked Salisbury men’s lacrosse team fell 10-9 to York College in the CAC Championship game on Saturday afternoon.
York started fast, taking a 3-0 lead in the first 8 minutes of the game. Nathan Blondino and Thomas Cirillo would lead the offensive charge to close the gap, but the Gulls still trailed 6-3 at the half.
In the second half, everytime Salisbury got within one, York would have the answer. Nick Garbarino would score consecutive goals in the third to get the Gulls within one, but again the Spartans had the answer. An 8-7 game early in the fourth, the Spartans would score back to back goals to push their lead to 10-7 with 5:37 remaining. Garbarino and Blondino would score goals just 27 seconds a part, but a missed shot and a key turnover would doom the Gulls in the final minute.
Salisbury will now await their seeding in the Division III Men’s Lacrosse Tournament.
