Women-veterans’ bill calls for 5.3 billion dollars

The U.S. Senate has passed a bill to provide 5.3 billion dollars towards female veterans.

According to Senator Barbara Mikulski’s office, 535 million would go toward healthcare efforts.

One example includes gender specific prosthetics. We’re told medical prosthetics for female amputees are currently one-size-fits-all and are based on the male anatomy.

Part of the bill also calls for the VA to cover the costs of reproductive services for veterans with service related injuries, which have prevented them from starting families.

The House and Senate must work out differences between their versions of the bill before it is signed into law.
