Wilmington man arrested in connection to Milford home invasion robbery

Members of the Delaware State Police say they arrested Willie Fowler, 29, of Wilmington, in connection with a home invasion robbery in Milford Sunday.

Troopers say the incident happened around 9:45 PM along Shawnee Road. According to investigators, two men entered the home thorugh the front door wearing masks and carrying handguns. It was then police say they confronted a  woman as she walked down the hallway toward a living room, where a 9-year-old and 3-year-old were watching television.

Police say the two suspects continued on and entered a bedroom where a man was laying in bed, while a woman was in a nearby bathroom. Police say one of the suspects hit the male in the head with a handgun, and a fight ensued between the two.

Police say the female that was in the bathroom ran to the living room, to join her two children.

Troopers say the three men ,including the victim, made their way into the living room and then the kitchen area where the male victim grabbed a butcher knife and began stabbing one of the robbers, after the suspect’s gun failed to fire.  State Police say the fight ensued until the suspects fled the property with the male victim’s prescription medicine.

The male victim reportedly sustained a laceration to his head and was treated at a hospital.

It was not long after that Bayhealth Milford Memorial contacted 911 about Fowler showing up for treatment of more than half a dozen stab wounds to the upper torso.

Police say the second suspect, described as a black male, 20-25 years of age, 5’05″–5’10”, 150-175 lbs. , has not been found.

Troopers say Fowler was released from the hospital into police custody on Tuseday.

He has been charged with Home Invasion, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, first degree Burglary, second degree Assault, five counts of first degree Reckless Endangering, five counts of Aggravated Menacing, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, second degree Conspiracy, Theft under $1500, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 

Police say Fowler was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $157,500.00 cash bond.
