Wicomico Co. heroin dealer convicted after kilo and $118K cash found in home

A Wicomico County heroin dealer has been convicted on distribution charges.
On Tuesday, a Wicomico County jury convicted 34-year-old Jermaine Peters, of Wicomico County, of possession with intent to distribute a large amount of heroin, being a felon in possession of regulated firearms, possession of a regulated firearm during a drug trafficking crime and numerous other related offenses.
The charges stem from an October 13, 2015 search at a home on Chateau Drive, in Salisbury. During the search, Peters was found on the back porch, and a female was located in living room of the home. Two stolen handguns which were loaded with ammunition, numerous gun magazines containing live ammunition and several boxes with additional live ammunition, were all found in a dresser in the master bedroom, while in the master bedroom closet, officers located a rifle and a shoe box which contained a large amount of cash.
It was later determined that the shoe box had $118,667.26 in cash, inside. Officers also located over one kilogram of heroin, that had a street value of over $700,000, in a nightstand, in the master bathroom. Peters has multiple prior convictions including felony drug and firearms convictions.
Following his conviction he faces a potential total sentence of one hundred twenty-one years, with at least twenty years of that time being mandatory, non-parole eligible time. Sentencing has been deferred, to allow for a pre-sentencing investigation.
