UPDATE: West Salisbury Elementary back to normal after suspicious phone call

School Officials say a suspicious phone call received by a local elementary school, prompted students and staff to shelter in place, earlier Wednesday.
Wicomico County Public Schools says on Wednesday morning, West Salisbury Elementary School received a suspicious phone call. According to the school system, school safety officials and law enforcement investigated the incident, while students are sheltered in place.
“This matter is being handled with the safety of our students and staff as our highest priority.” said Wicomico County Public Schools Public Information Officer, Tracy Sahler, in a media release, Wednesday morning.
Later Wednesday around 1:40 PM, the school system released an update, saying that West Salisbury Elementary School had returned to normal status of operations. They also noted that a Sheriff’s Office deputy would remain at the school, until the end of the school day.
