UPDATE: Stokes sentenced on murder charges

Jarrett Stokes, 19, of Delmar, Md.

A Delmar teen has learned his fate, after being found guilty of murder charges back in March.

On Thursday, 19-year-old Jarrett Stokes was sentenced by a Circuit Court Judge to life in prison for the murder first degree, plus an additional 20 years for handgun use in a felony, and three years on reckless endangerment.

The charges stem from an August 2, 2015 incident, where three others, Larry Ennis, Kyshir Connally, and Marquel Pinder, were at an under 21 party at America’s Best Value Inn, in Salisbury. At the party, Ennis, Connally, and Pinder got into an altercation with another group, and were asked to leave the event. The three left, and contacted Stokes, who they then picked-up at the Ihop. All four then headed back to America’s Best Value Inn to confront the group from earlier, and parked across the street, searching the crowd for them.

After surveying the crowd for approximately ten minutes, Stokes shot four rounds into the crowd of 75 to 100 people. One of those rounds hit and killed a 17-year-old Rakim Russell, of Fruitland, who was standing in the crowd.

In March, Stokes was convicted of murder first degree, handgun use in a felony, and reckless endangerment.

Larry Ennis was found guilty in February on similar charges, and sentenced to life, plus ten years in April. Ky’shir Connally is reportedly due in court in August for his trial.
