UPDATE: Man indicted in 2012 Race Street apartment building fire in Cambridge

A man has been indicted in a Cambridge arson investigation, dating back to 2012.
The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal says a grand jury had indicted 26-year-old Pernell Clanton, on multiple felony charges stemming from a 2012 Cambridge apartment fire. Officials say the indictment comes after a three year investigation by The Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Office of the State’s Attorney for Dorchester County and the Cambridge Police Department.
Clanton was charged on Wednesday with 22 counts of first degree assault, 7 counts of first degree arson, and 2 counts of second degree arson. Back on December 16, 2012, just after 10:45 PM, nearly 100 firefighters responded to a four-alarm blaze on Race Street, in Cambridge.
The thirteen fire companies worked for two hours to bring the flames under control. Following the incident, two firefighters were treated for stress related injuries at Dorchester General Hospital and released. The structure reportedly contained a thrift store on the first floor, with four apartments on the second floor, and four apartments on the third floor.
Smoke alarms reportedly alerted residents of the building to the fire. Twenty-two occupants were taken to area hospitals, and treated for non-life threatening injuries received when jumping from second and third floor windows. The structure was considered to be a total loss with damages estimated at $850,000.
Clanton is now being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center with no bond, awaiting trial.
