UPDATE: Easton Officer, two others injured in crash

Easton Police say Officer Michelle Schuerholz, an 11-year veteran of the Easton Police Department, is in stable condition at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Sergeant George Paugh tells 47ABC the officer “is awaiting reconstructive surgery on her foot”. Both teens involved in the wreck have been treated and released from their respective hospitals.
Maryland State Police are investigating the crash, and authorities say charges remain pending until the investigation is complete. Westbound Ocean Gateway was detoured for approximately 5 hours according to police.

An Easton Police officer was involved in a serious crash on Saturday night according to Easton Police. The officer was reportedly on duty in a marked car while waiting to make a left hand turn onto High Street in Easton. Police say the investigation revealed that another vehicle was traveling East on Ocean Gateway and crossed into the Westbound lane striking the Easton police cruiser.
We’re told the officer was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, as well as a 19-year-old passenger in the other car. The driver of the car apparently that crossed the lane was also 19-years-old. Police say the driver was then was transferred to a local hospital.
None of the victims identities are being released at this time, as Easton PD is calling the situation “very active and fluid”.
Officials say none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening at this time. The 19-year-old passenger is reportedly from Salisbury, the driver, of Fruitland. Easton Police Department is leading the investigation, with Maryland State Police and other Talbot County agencies assisting.
