UPDATE: Dover woman charged in hit-and-run of Milford home

Police In Milford say they have arrested and charged a Dover woman in connection to a hit-and-run early Thursday morning, that seriously injured an elderly woman.

Authorities have charged 35-year-old Paula Gillespie with vehicular assault, careless driving, and other traffic offenses.

According to police, around 1:30 AM a 66-year-old woman and a family member were standing inside a garage next to a parked car on North Sagamore Drive (Hearthstone Manor Development). During this time, investigators say Gillespie was driving a SUV at a high rate of speed in the development and lost control. She reportedly then crashed into the side of the garage causing the parked car to slide into the 66-year-old victim, pinning her between the car and the garage wall. Gillespie then reportedly fled the scene in her SUV.

Officials say, Gillespie turned herself into Milford Police Department later that day. She was reportedly released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
