Upcoming fundraiser to benefit “Make A Wish Foundation”

Last June we brought you the inspirational story behind Ridgley native Daniel Lockhart. He suffers from a severe case of scoliosis and has had multiple surgeries, even a spinal infusion. But he certainly doesn’t let it slow him down.
After receiving a wish from the make a wish foundation for himself, he wants to give back. Each year Lockhart and his family host Danny’s Walk, a fundraiser to help raise funds for another child’s wish. This year, Lockhart says there will be a 5k run, a live band, food vendors, and a dunking booth, among other things as well, with each company donating their time and services. Lockhart says he’s excited for the event and hopes to help another child in need of a special wish.
Lockhart tells 47 ABC, “Hopefully we’ll be able to meet our goal or at least close enough that it will be able to help another child get their wish, the average wish is always around $7500 so we match our goal around that so hopefully we can pay for a child’s wish.”
This years event will take place on Saturday, May 7th at the Martin Sutton Memorial Park in Ridgley and will go from 10 AM to 2 PM. Those wishing to participate in the 5k should arrive at 8:30 AM, as the run itself begins at 9 AM.
