Two arrested in Harrington for marijuana possession

The Harrington Police Department say, they arrested two people after marijuana was found in a vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to reports on Tuesday, just before 3 AM an officer was traveling behind a vehicle on Commerce Street when the officer reportedly smelled an odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle.

Police say they stopped the suspected vehicle driven by 21-year-old Douglas Butler of Bridgeville and passenger 35-year-old Tasha Copes of Wilmington. A vehicle search was conducted and police say they located 5.4 grams of marijuana belonging to Copes and 89.7 grams of marijuana belonging to Butler.

Both were taken into custody. Copes was issued a civil summons for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and released. Butler was issued a criminal summons for possession and possession of drug paraphernalia and released.

A second passenger in the car was reportedly questioned but later released without being charged.
