Sussex Tech Upsets Lake Forest, Advances In States

The Sussex Tech boys lacrosse team pulled off a first round upset in the DIAA State Tournament when they defeated Lake Forest 24-16 on Tuesday night. The Ravens would jump out to a quick lead, before holding off the Spartans late for the win.

Tech came out of the gates ready to go, as they would open the game on a 9-3 run, getting scores from Jason Whaley and Nathaniel Quillin to get it started. The Spartans finally then found their footing as Austin Aguilar and and Ben Moore would help lead their team back. They would climb withing 10-8, but that’s as close as they were going to get. Tech continued to push as Matt Tull and Graham Spellman were both able to work themselves into the stat sheet before the night was done. They both help spark a third quarter run that would put the game out of reach.

Sussex Tech will now travel to face off against top seeded Salesianum on Saturday.
