Special routes offered through Labor Day weekend

Ahead of the upcoming summer tourism season, Shore Transit has planned a new trolley route kicking off Friday.

The special trolleys will augment routes connecting West Ocean City and the Ocean City Transit system with routes to Salisbury, Berlin, Snow Hill, Princess Anne and Pocomoke.

It will operate between 10 a.m and 7:30 p.m. with stops including the Casino at Ocean Downs, White Marlin Mall and the Berlin Wal-Mart.

Brad Bellacicco, director of Shore Transit, says it’s just one dollar to ride this trolley thanks to funding from local businesses and agencies.

“It’s really a public private partnership because we have some private sponsorship money helping to make it happen and then Maryland transit administration was able to give us a little bit more money because they thought it was a good idea too,” he explains.

The special route is expected to run through Labor Day.
