Sea Gulls Coast In NCAA Opener

The SU men’s lacrosse team earned a NCAA Tournament win Wednesday afternoon when they rolled past Catholic 19-6. The win improves the Sea Gulls to 19-1, and sends them to the second round of the National Tournament.
SU came out of the gates red hot from the field. Brendan Bromwell would fire in an unassisted score from the left side, followed by a nice near post finish from Garrett Reynolds, and then back to back goals from Nick Garbarino. It looked like SU was on their way to a blow out, until the Cardinals settled in. They would go on a 4-1 run to climb within a goal after Dylan Neville added a score with 3 seconds left in the 1st quarter.
Salisbury would take over from there though. James Burton would find the back of the net 3 times in the second quarter alone, while Carson Kalama would add 2 of his 4 scores in the period as the Sea Gulls would take a 10-4 lead into the break. SU then really put the game out of reach in the 3rd, out-scoring Catholic 4-0 with a pair of goals from Kalama. SU’s defense would do the rest as they rolled to the win.
Salisbury now advances to the second round of the tournament where they await to see who they will play on Saturday.
