Saints Top Jags For Regional Title

The dream season continues for the Saint Michaels baseball team as they topped Washington 11-1 to claim the Regional Title. The win advances the Saints to the State Semifinals on Tuesday.
The teams would be in a bit of a pitchers duel early. While neither pitcher was particularly sharp, they were able to make timely pitches to get out of tough situations. Washington would work runners on the corners in the first before Devin Stanford got a a strike out to end the threat. Caleb Walston was just as effective for Washington, as he racked up two strikes outs in the first to move the game along. But the Saints would be the first to get going in the bottom of the second. A couple walks and a single would load the bases before Stanford hit a chopper to short that would end up in center field. That allowed two runs to score as they took the lead. The next batter would then pull off a suicide squeeze to score Matt Grogan. The lead would swell to 5-0 before the Jaguars were finally able to get one back. With a man on 3rd, Walston would lay down a perfect bunt to get a squeeze play of his own.
But that would be the only run that Washington was gong to be able to muster on this day. Noah Brack would take over on the bump in relief, and he was able to control the Jags lineup. The hits continue to come for the Saints as well, as Nathan Howeth would rip a RBI double down the 3rd base line that would open the game up, before another error would allow 2 more runs to score. The Jags could never get their bats going as they saw their incredible run come to an end.
