Saathoff, ‘Dawgs Roll Past Wi-Hi

The North Caroline baseball team advance to the second round of the state tournament on Saturday when they tolled past Wi-Hi 12-2. The Bulldogs advance to face second seeded North Caroline.
The Bulldogs would strike first in the bottom of the first inning after Alan Saathoff ropes a RBI single to left to score Cameron Byrd. The lead wouldn’t hold for very long though, as the Indians would make their move in the 2nd. After a single and walk got runners on 1st and 2nd, Zach Workeman would lay down a bunt. North Caroline would try and get the lead runner at third, but the throw would be wide of the bag and find left field allowing two runs to score. Workeman would find his way to second on the play.
But that was all the damage the ‘Dawgs were going to give up on this day. Saathoff would take over on the mound, and shut down the Indians lineup. The offense continued to get rolling as well, as in the 3rd with a man on, Saathof would turn on a pitch for a 2 run shot to left. That gave North Caroline a 1 run lead, but they weren’t done just yet. Two more runners would get on base in the inning, and be driven in off a 2 RBI single to center from Morgan Loetz. North Caroline would roll from there for the win.
