One killed in Route 13 crash involving motorcycle

One person is dead following a crash on route 13 just north of Route 609 in the Nassadowox area of Virginia on Sunday according to Virginia State Police.  Christina G. Bowman-Weaver Of Chesapeake, Va. was a passenger on the motorcycle and was ejected after the Harley Davidson maneuvered to avoid a car that police say was making an unsafe lane change.

The man operating the motorcycle was taken to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries according to officials, both he and the deceased were reportedly wearing helmets.  Irene Boyd, a 75 year old from Machipongo, Va. was the driver of the Ford Focus that switched lanes, was uninjured in the crash, but is being charged with unsafe lane change according to police.  A Virginia State Police Spokesperson says both alcohol and speed were ruled out as causes for the crash.
