Ocean City lifeguards set to return May 28

Summer is just around the corner, and one local beach town is getting ready to bring back their lifeguards.

Ocean City says starting Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 AM, lifeguards will take their stands to watch over the town’s ten miles of beach. Beach patrol surf rescue technicians will be on duty seven days a week, from 10 AM until 5:30 PM, from Memorial Day weekend, until late September.

Officials say at 5:25 PM, each day, beach patrol staff will signal beachgoers to get out of the ocean, and stay out of the water, until the guards are back on duty the next day. Ocean City says they’d like every to remember to “keep your feet in the sand until the lifeguard’s in the stand.”  

The beach patrol stays they are still looking for interested applications to join the team for the summer season, with the first training academy set for Sunday, May 22. A second academy will start up on Sunday, June 19.
