Nine arrested in human trafficking and prostitution operation in Ocean City

Police in Ocean City say they teamed up with Homeland Security, and made nine arrests, in connection with human trafficking and prostitution in the beach town.
Ocean City Police say they joined forces with the Homeland Security Investigations Baltimore, to jointly investigate human trafficking and prostitution in the resort town. The Worcester County Bureau of Investigations, Maryland State Police, and Berlin Police Department, all participated in the investigation, as well.
Officials say on the evenings of May 19 and May 20, nine people were arrested, during an operation at several hotels in Ocean City. Detectives say they also executed search warrants at area hotels, during which they seized $1,850 in cash, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, heroin, cocaine, suboxone, marijuana, hash oil, two additional prescription stimulants, and drug paraphernalia.
Worcester County State’s Attorney Beau Oglesby tells 47ABC the next step is to find the right help for the victims, adding “the most tragic element of these types of crimes is preying on the vulnerability of these young women and exposing them to dangers. Not only health dangers, but personal safety dangers.”
