National Guard Headquarters to be named after Beau Biden

The Delaware National Guard say they will honor the late Beau Biden, a former Attorney General, and a Major in the Delaware Army National Guard, by naming the Delaware National Guard Headquarters after him.
Officials say a ceremony will take place Monday at 2 PM at 250 Airport Road in New Castle, unveil new signage dedicating the building as the “Major Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III National Guard/Reserve Center. Members of Beau Biden’s family, including the Vice President, Joe Biden, and Dr. Biden, will reportedly attend.
According to reports, Beau Biden joined the Delaware Army National Guard in 2003 and served as a Judge Advocate General in several units of assignment. In the fall of 2008, he was reportedly deployed to Iraq for a year as a member of the 261st Theater Tactical Signal Brigade and earned the Bronze Star. In 2011, he attained the rank of Major. He received the Legion of Merit and the Delaware Conspicuous Service Cross posthumously.
The National Guard/Reserve Center opened in August 2014 and is a 106,000 square foot facility that houses the Army and Air National Guard Headquarters, as well as the local U.S. Navy Reserve. The building received gold level status in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, which recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices.
