Mountaire acquires new plant to expand business

Mountaire Farms Inc. has acquired a new processing plant in North Carolina. The Delaware based agricultural food processing company made the announcement of the acquisition on Thursday. Michael Tirrell, Vice President of Human Resources and Business Services says work will begin immediately on the former Townsend Processing Plant which is located in Siler City, North Carolina.
Mountaire has other locations in North Carolina and say this will help expand their footprint in the Tar Heel State to help create jobs in the community and drive the local economy. Tirrell tells 47ABC that there could also be kickback here on Delmarva. “There are a lot of support jobs that could be added in the Delaware area in the way of accounting and sales and administration. So the company is growing, and we’re very fortunate – very blessed.” he tells 47ABC. Tirrell adds that the property needs to be completely renovated, so it will take some time to get operations going for the new plant.
