Mikulksi says rural areas need more money for water improvement

A bill is on its way to the Senate floor that could mean more money for water infrastructure in rural areas.

Sen. Barbara Mikulksi (D-MD) says The Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and related agencies funding bill has $1.684 billion loan and grant programs.

This funding supports rural communities to make critical infrastructure improvements to water and sewage systems.

Officials say this is a $3 million increase from last year.

Last year Maryland communities benefited from $24 million in water and sewer grants and loans.
