MD delegation hopes to bring MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft to Wallops

Senator Jim Mathias and the rest of the Eastern Shore Delegation are trying to bring 400 new jobs to the Wallops Flight Facility.
They’ve asked the Navy to pick Wallops as the east coast Forward Operating Base for the MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft.
Because naval aviation is already well established at the flight facility, the delegation believes it’s the ideal site for basing unmanned aircrafts.
About half of the facility’s workforce live on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Senator Jim Mathias says, “The facility is absolutely in a perfect location, in a central mid-Atlantic location, solid proximity to “Pax” River, and Hampton Roads. We need to the Eastern Shore to be the epicenter for these tech jobs.”
We’re told the Navy will select the site for the Triton project sometime between July and September of this year.
